Grant Riddall – Winner

Q1: How do you like these new Beemer beasts in AMS?

GR: Simply put, amazing. The effort Richard W and David S have put into these cars shows. In my mind, you cannot class these modders as amateurs as they continuously produce mods that are a class above 90% of what is currently out there. You have to drive these cars with some appreciation to get the most out of them.

Q2: Do you agree that Redgate is the most despicable corner in the whole of sim racing?

GR: I have to admit I kind of like it, when you hit it just right it leaves you with a sense of accomplishment. For myself, the worst despicable corner has to be the Carousel at Road America.

Q3: Once past Thiago, you seemed to edge out a bit. Where you being slightly held back at first?

GR: At first yes, I knew I had more speed and I knew I had to make a move to get some distance ahead, but Thiago has this ability to come even more alive the more the race goes on. So I think we both had more speed than what we was originally letting on!

Q1: How do you like these new Beemer beasts in AMS?

TC: I had not raced with the M1 in rFactor, so I can’t compare with AMS. The weight distribution 44/56 adds to the differential lock in the rear axle. And if you can manage that, you still have to deal with the not so good front grip when going to the apex. Also the brakes are begging to lock up. All of this make this beast hard to control. After managing all of it, the car won’t turn. But I still like it!!

Q2: Do you agree that Redgate is the most despicable corner in the whole of sim racing?

TC: I’m fine with Redgate! So many difficult turns out there, it is hard for me to name one. But Redgate isn’t one of the ones that I don’t like.

Q3: Once Grant was past you, he seemed to edge out a bit. Were you managing tires at that point?

TC: No tire management. New cars (at least to me), first race of the season, I honestly wasn’t there to put up a big fight. Grant always has an edge, he is the fastest out there. This time the pace was similar, just one or two small mistakes and it is hard to recover. That  caused the gap.

Q1: How do you like these new Beemer beasts in AMS?

AJ: I love them. They are a new challenge and a new challenge always makes for some great fun.

Q2: Do you agree that Redgate is the most despicable corner in the whole of sim racing?

AJ: Hmm that’s a question that we could debate about for days but I certainly didnt feel as confident in that corner as I do most.

Q3: You seemed to be somewhat under pressure about halfway through the race with an off at McLeans. Is it just these cars that take some getting used to?

AJ: I wouldn’t call it pressure but more of just me being me lol. I was pushing a little to hard and wanted to pass Thiago so Grant would not run away with the race but it seemed inevitable.
